The place from which God gets down – Kamikōchi 上高地

Kamikōchi ” 上高地 ” is a part of Chūbu-Sangaku National Park in Japan, and is a scenic spot in the altitude of about 1,500 meters which spreads in the canyon along Azusa-river. Kamikōchi is designated as the cultural assets ” the special place of scenic beauty and the special natural monument ” of the country, and beautiful nature, such as a pond and a swamp, is saved. In order to keep nature, there is private car entrance regulation, it is protected so that it may not become dirty by sightseeing, and garbage has not fallen, either. Beauty of Kamikōchi was introduced by the world by British Walter Weston in 1896. The monument which praised his achievement exists, and “Weston festival” is held every year. The clear stream of Azusa-river which makes the melted snow of the Hida mountain range a source, and cool climate with an altitude of 1,500 meters. Kamikōchi is wrapped in feeling of silence and sense of cleanliness.

上高地は中部山岳国立公園の一部であり、梓川沿いの峡谷に広がる標高約1,500メートルにある景勝地です。上高地は国の文化財「特別名勝・特別天然記念物」に指定されていて、池や湿地などの美しい自然が保存されています。自然を守るためマイカー乗り入れ規制があり観光によって汚れることがないように保護されています。小さなゴミの一つも落ちていません。1896年にイギリス人のWalter Westonにより、上高地の美しさが世界に紹介されました。彼の功績を称えた記念碑が存在し、毎年「上高地ウェストン祭」が催されています。飛騨山脈の雪解け水を源にする梓川の清流、そして標高約1,500メートルの冷涼な気候。上高地は清潔感と静寂感に包まれています。
